Car Accident Injury Treatment In Escondido, CA

In a car accident, it is most important to be seen right away to be examined for injuries.  Some injuries including whiplash or other musculoskeletal injuries may go unnoticed even in minor accidents. These car accident injuries may cause pain weeks, months or even years later. If symptoms go untreated for too long the likelihood of car insurance covering the full cost is slim and there is a possibility of having a chronic condition develop. It is also important to have a specialist in car accident injury, document your injuries days following the accident.

Perez Chiropractic in Escondido does this  by specific orthopedic tests, specialized palpation procedures,  specialized auto injury questionaires and range of motion examinations. Insurances such as Geico, State farm, Farmers, and AAA use this to justify claims due to car accidents. So it is very important to see someone who can document your injuries properly so there will be no problem determining medical nessesity.   At Perez Chiropractic we also have a network of orthopedic doctors, pain management doctors, and imaging centers that are very important when symptoms call for referral or symptom persist for an extended amount of time.

Once you have seen a car accident chiropractor, there are many types of insurance that may cover the cost of care after a car accident. Car Insurance (PIP or Medpay, Third-Party Payment), Health Insurance, or a Doctors Lien are all accepted by Perez Chiropractic.  We can also advise you to what your options may be in the unfortunate case of being involved in a car accident.

If you do have PIP or Medpay on your car insurance  and  we do not have a doctors lien on file, it should be used first and is in most cases considered primary if you are involved in a car accident in Escondido or California. Perez Chiropractic is a  specialized car accident office in Escondido, CA that  is experienced in submitting claims to car insurance  as well as providing liens unlike many other offices, and urgent care clinics in the Escondido,CA  area.

Injured persons without Medpay or PIP can use personal insurance for some services at Perez Chiropractic if there are no other means to pay for an injury claim. Some Med-pay such as USAA may require you to use health insurance if the provider is in network. However some of the services we provide for specialized car accident injury rehabiliation are not covered by insurance companies as well as some of our providers may not be in network with your personal health insurance company.

Health Insurance should always be the last resort when it comes to car accidents because of subrogation clauses that required paid services to be paid back or reimbursed to personal insurance companies.   At Perez Chiropractic our chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and decompression services can be covered by Med-pay or PIP on your car insurance policy. However, some personal health insurances may have exclusions to certain rehabilitation services or referrals we use. Although there are many scenarios and many legal aspects to take into consideration we do offer connections with some of the most highly rated Personal Injury Attorney's in the Area.

Here are a few more advantages to adding Med-pay or PIP to your policy if you don’t currently have it.

Advantages to adding Med-pay or PIP to your car insurance

  • No deductible required like most personal health insurance
  • Can be used if you are a driver or passenger
  • Can be used if you are at fault or not at fault
  • Fairly inexpensive to add to your policy
  • Quick and direct reimbursement for a wide range of services to specialized providers

I have many patients that see me, and I typically ask if they are doing anything at home for pain. Two excellent modalities to use for pain relief are heat or ice. I see many patients in car accidents, and they have told me they are using heat. I'm delighted they are trying to manage their pain naturally, but they are surprised at the time when I say No! It would be best if you were using ice. Heat pools more blood to the area it is applied to therefore increasing inflammation. Not the best idea after a major car accident or any acute injury. Heat is typically useful for chronic conditions such as a year of constant low back pain. Ice is helpful for acute conditions such as a sprained ankle, whiplash or black eye. Another good combination of ice or heat is alternating. Alternating ice and heat have many beneficial outcomes. For example, if you alternate heat and ice every two minutes for 20 minutes, you will speed up your healing time from an injury.

Typically I have people who come after an acute low back injury perhaps by working out, car accident, or just picking that towel up off the floor. I recommend Ice for 72 hours to decrease inflammation and then alternate ice and heat. However, given this information everyone's body responds differently to these modalities. For example, patients with CRPS/RSD cannot use ice and are highly discouraged from using it. So make sure you ultimately talk to your local Chiropractor on which modality and time frames are right for you. You can also visit our office in Escondido, California and we will gladly help you get your back on the right path to healing.
